Two violin students of the Zakhar Bron School of Music have won a first prize each in different age categories at the Crescendo International Music Competition that took place in Florence on June 1st to 3rd, 2019.
Renee Tu (11 years old, student of Liana Tretiakova) received the 1st prize in the junior category, and Zoe Walton (15 years old, student of Liana Tretiakova and Romaine Bolinger) won the 1st prize in the first age group. Renee performed two movements of Bériot’s Concert Nr. 9, and Zoe played the Chaconne by Vitali and the Romance by Wieniawski.
For both teenagers it was the first time they participated in a competition of such magnitude and the results are truly astonishing. As usual, both students were accompanied on the trip by their teacher, Liana Tretiakova. With each of them she practised for at least 3 to 4 hours every day to ensure that they perform at their best at the competition. On stage, both Renee and Zoe had a piano accompaniment by Yana Eismann.
