Nikita Koller and Sophie Branson, our professional program violin students (both class of Liana Tretiakova), won 2nd and 3rd prize respectively at the X International Violin Competition ‘Astana-Violin’ In Memory of David Oistrakh, which took place in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan, earlier this month.

At the Zurich Music Competition, which took place last Saturday at the Zurich Music Conservatory (MKZ), our advanced string students achieved remarkable success, securing three 1st prizes and two 3rd prizes in the violin solo and cello solo categories in different age groups.

Eight young violinists from ZBSM, accompanied by the String Ensemble of the Zurich Chamber Philharmonic, delivered a mesmerizing performance at the 'Virtuoso Violin Music: from Love Dreams to Witches' Sabbaths' concert during the Golden Festival in Herrliberg last week.

Ten first prizes and four second prizes were won by our students in the finale of the Swiss Youth Music Competition which took place at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano in the middle of May.

Two violin students of Liana Tretiakova – Sophie Branson and Alexandra Taub – have performed with the St Michel Strings Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Ho Chung Yeh at the concert hall Mikaeli in Finland in February this year.

Our young violin student Sophie Branson (class of Liana Tretiakova) performed with the Zurich Symphony Orchestra at two Christmas-Gala concerts at the grand hall of the Tonhalle Zürich on December 21st – for the first time in the school history.

In the beginning of June three our advanced violinists debuted at the ‘Summer Serenades’ concert with the Camerata Tchaikovsky chamber orchestra at St Mark's Church in London. Three months later four other advanced ZBSM students performed with the Camerata at the ‘Autumn Serenades’ concert at the same church.

For the third year in a row young violinists of the Zakhar Bron School of Music have taken part at the Golden Festival in Herrliberg. In August 2022 ten our most advanced violin students performed on the festival stage together with the String Ensemble of the Zurich Chamber Philharmonic.

Our students won twenty nine prizes – 17 prizes in the Entrada part and 12 in the finale – at the Swiss National Youth Music Competition, the most challenging national competition for young musicians in the country.

Five ZBSM award-winning string students – four violinists and one cellist – performed in two concerts with the Uniart orchestra in Paris last week. This was the first time our students played in the most romantic city in the world in the 11+ years of the school history!

Our violin student Lena-Lisa Rosa (9 years old, studio of Inna Khriplovich) has just won the 1st prize at the national music competition ‘Premio Crescendo’ finale in Florence (Italy) in the violin solo category up to 11 years.

At the Swiss Youth Music Competition which took place between March and May this year, the Zakhar Bron School of Music students won 32 prizes: 17 first prizes (including 9 with distinction), 9 second and 6 third prizes. Three of our students performed at the gala concert.

Our violin student Kimia Corke has just won the 1st prize at the first edition of the Cantonal Conservatory Baroque Competition which was held in Sion on 6 February.

At six international online music competitions which were held in Europe, USA and Russia our violin, cello and piano students won ten prizes: nine first prizes and one second prize. All first prizes were won by the Zakhar Bron School of Music violin students, and the only second prize was won by a piano-cello duet.

In just a few days after the historical victory at the Nutcracker 2020 international television competition in Moscow, Ilva Eigus, 13-year-old violin student of the Zakhar Bron School of Music (studio of Liana Tretiakova), won the 1st prize at yet another international TV competition called the ‘Blue Bird’ in the capital of Russia. In the contest finale she played with Vadim Repin, one of the most famous violin soloists in the world today.

13-year-old Ilva Eigus, violin student of the Zakhar Bron School of Music (studio of Liana Tretiakova), won the 1st prize at the Nutcracker, the annual international television contest for young musicians held in Moscow, Russia, from 1 to 8 December. For the first time in its 21-year history, the competition was won by a Swiss participant.

Duos from the Zakhar Bron School of Music won one 1st prize and two 2nd prizes at the annual Zurich Music Competition, which was held on November 8.

In September and October 2020, eleven advanced violin students of the Zakhar Bron School of Music gave two concerts entitled "Young Soloists Play Baroque Music" in the Church of St. Peter, the oldest church in Zurich and the only Baroque church in the city. Tickets were sold out already two weeks before each concert.

Under the title "Young Soloists Play Baroque Music" eleven of the most advanced violin students of the Zakhar Bron School of Music gave two concerts with the world famous Gringolts Quartet. The first concert took place at the end of August at the Kirche Tal in Herrliberg as part of the Golden Festival 2020, and the second just two weeks later at the Kirche St. Peter in Zürich.

Five students from the Zakhar Bron School of Music won five prizes in different categories at the Paris «Nouvelles Étoiles» (New Stars) competition, which was held online this time at the end of June due to Covid 19 restrictions.

In the beginning of February young soloists of the Zakhar Bron School of Music, five violinists and a pianist, performed with the symphony orchestra Capella Sonorus in the concert hall “Upper city” in Minsk, Belarus. It was the second performance with orchestra in Minsk for the ZBSM students this semester.

From the 9th until the 14th of November Zakhar Bron School of Music held its first music festival – Children Playing for Children, with the support of the Hibou Foundation. Our students and guests from Moscow gave five concerts for the young audiences in several concert halls of Zurich.

On Thursday, 25 September 2019, four young violinists and a cellist from the Zakhar Bron School of Music performed with the Capella Sonorus chamber orchestra at the concert hall “Upper Town” in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. They presented the program “Young Alpine Virtuosos”.

From June 13 to 15 the Zakhar Bron School of Music held the first edition of the Monaco String Academy, the new project under the patronage of the legendary violinist and educator of our times Maestro Maxim Vengerov. Lessons at the Academy were taught by professors Priya Mitchell (London), Claire Oppert (Paris) and Liana Tretiakova (Zurich).

Three violin students of the Zakhar Bron School of Music performed famous pieces by Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev at the Zaubersee Festival, the 8th chamber music festival dedicated to the Russian classical music. By tradition the event took place at the luxurious Schweizerhof Hotel in Luzern, Switzerland, at the end of May.

On 11 May 2019 young soloists from the Zakhar Bron School of Music presented a program of Bach, Vivaldi, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov and other famous composers in the Kluskapelle in Zürich.

Besides our eight young violinists and cellists, all of whom won 1st prizes, our piano students also took part in the Swiss National Youth Music Competition that took place in Winterthur and Rotkreuz on 29 March 2019. They won seven prizes: one 1st, five 2nd and one 3rd.

In November 2018 two scholarship holders of the Russian Spivakov Foundation visited Switzerland: the pianist Mariamna Sherling and the clarinetist Andrey Ryazantsev. On November 9 and 11 they gave two concerts together with students of the ZBSM, organized by the Zakhar Bron School of Music and the association "Concert Series Marina Korendfeld".

On the 5th of August 2018 in the series «Concerts au Musée» of the 69th Menton Music Festival, Sayaka Shoji, two students of ZBSM and ensemble of violinists gave a highly acclaimed concert at the Cocteau Museum. It was the conclusion and highlight of third year's edition master class.

At the beginning of May the finals of the Swiss Youth Music Competition 2018 took place in Zurich. The best placed students from the regional Entradas of mid-March were invited, among them our students Ilva Eigus and Aurora Gächter. Both received first prize again.
