The tour took them to Omsk and Novosibirsk, the musical capital of Siberia. During the twelve days of the tour our young soloists gave three concerts: with the Omsk Chamber Orchestra, the Violin Ensemble of the Omsk Musical College and the well known Novosibirsk Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.
Rehearsals with the orchestra took place every day, which gave our young violinists a chance to gain invaluable experience and to feel confident in their new role as soloists in front of the orchestra.
The concerts were opened by Sophie Branson, who conquered the hearts of the audiences by her deep interpretation of Vitali’s Chaconne. The youngest participant of the tour, six year old Estelle Presler presented variations by Paganini and Preludium and Allegro by Kreisler-Pugniani. Ilva Eigus surprised the audience with her virtuosic performance of the Introduction and Tarantella by Sarasate and moved her listeners to tears with the deeply emotional Melody by Gluck. Alexander Sahatci excited the public with some beloved melodies of Georges Bizet, performing the Carmen Fantasy by Drdla. 10 year old Aurora Gaechter played two famous pieces by Saint-Saëns: Havanaise and Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. From the first notes the audience was charmed by the unique lightness of her sound and the freedom of her interpretation. At the end of the concerts our soloists came on stage together with their teacher Liana Tretyakova and performed Three Pieces by Dmitri Shostakovich as an ensemble.
The Siberian Tour 2017 was a big success for our school. Our young musicians look forward to new opportunities to meet with the warm Russian audiences.
