Young talents from Switzerland and Russia in the Haus zur Waag and the Villa Boveri

In November 2017 the Zakhar Bron School of Music and the association "Concert Series Marina Korendfeld" organized for the first time joint concerts of the scholarship holders of the Spivakov Foundation (Russia) and the Zakhar Bron School of Music (Zurich).

Our first guests were pianist Alexander Doronin and clarinetist Erik Mirzoyan. Both young musicians are scholarship holders of the Spivakov Foundation, prize winners of international competitions and winners of two very popular Russian television competitions: the Nutcracker and the Blue Bird.

Alexander Doronin impressed the audience with his virtuosity and the refinement of his interpretation. His playing was full of poetic lyricism. Alexander played the Polonaise in A flat major by Chopin and Skryabin’s Etude No. 5 op. 42 and concluded the concert with one of the most challenging pieces of the piano repertoire: Islamey by Balakirev.

Erik played in duet with Alexander. They brilliantly performed such famous pieces as Oblivion by Piazzolla and the characterful Shalom Aleichem by Kovacs.

The soloists of the ZBSM presented a varied program with compositions for violin, cello and piano solo. We invite you to listen to our young soloists on the ZBSM YouTube channel.

We are very much looking forward to further cooperation with the Spivakov Foundation and to the new encounters with the young musicians from Russia!
