Four 1st Prizes Won in One Day

At the Swiss National Youth Music Competition that took place in Winterthur and Rotkreuz on 30 March 2019 four chamber music groups from our school won the first prizes, two of them – with distinction!

The Swiss National Youth Music Competition is the most important national event for the young musicians in Switzerland. We are very proud that this year six our young violinists (all six students of Liana Tretiakova) and two young cellists (both students of Matthieu Gutbub) received the highest prizes in this amazing event:

  • The 1st prize in the age group up to 11 years old, Rotkreuz: a trio of Alexandra Taub (violin, age 10), Vlada Sabella (violin, age 8) and Efraim Taub (cello, age 8)
  • The 1st prize in the age group up to 11 years old, Winterthur: duo of Nina Gringolts (violin, age 11) and Benjamin Branson (cello, age 10)
  • The 1st prize with distinction in the age group up to 15 years old, Winterthur: duo of Ilva Eigus (violin, age 11) and Javelyn Kryeziu (piano, age 14), her partner from MKZ
  • The 1st prize with distinction in the age group up to 15 years old, Rotkreuz: violin duo of Sophie Branson (age 12) and Moe Zürcher (age 14)

All four groups are invited to participate in the finals that will take place in Lugano this May. We wish them luck from the bottom of our hearts!

P.S. For all three trio members – Alexandra Taub, Vlada Sabella and Efraim Taub – it was the first competition. And taking the first places in the first competition is really a fantastic debut!
