3 ZBSM Soloists Perform with Camerata Tchaikovsky Orchestra in London

On 17 October 2025, a concert featuring soloists of the Zakhar Bron School of Music took place in London with the Camerata Tchaikovsky Orchestra (Artistic Director — Yury Zhislin). The concert was held at St John’s Church, Notting Hill and marked an important milestone in the professional development of the school’s young musicians.

The evening’s programme featured students of different ages and classes — both those with substantial stage experience and those taking their first steps in performing major works with orchestra.

Katya Gringolts (16, piano) opened the concert with a complete performance of W. A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major. This was Katya’s first orchestral appearance performing the full concerto cycle — a significant and demanding milestone in her musical journey. Katya has been a student of the Zakhar Bron School of Music for 11 years; for the past five years she has studied in the piano class of Rafael Lipstein, the school’s leading piano teacher.

The second item on the programme featured a special guest — young violinist Sean Xiaoyue (8) from China. Although he is not a student of the school, for the past three years he has regularly travelled with his parents from Shanghai to Zurich to attend masterclasses with Liana Tretiakova, founder of ZBSM and the school’s leading violin teacher. He performed Introduction et Tarantelle by Pablo de Sarasate, a brilliant and technically demanding work, which he played with remarkable freedom and musicality.

ZBSM student Eva Solodovska, violin, performs with Camerata Tchaikovsly in London

Eva Solodovska (15) continued the concert with Rondo capriccioso by Camille Saint-Saëns. Eva has studied at the Zakhar Bron School of Music in the violin class of Liana Tretiakova for eight years and demonstrated confident technique, virtuosity, and mature musical thinking.

The concert concluded with a performance by Kimia Corke (14), a talented violinist from Geneva, who presented three works from the core violin repertoire: Havanaise in E major by C. Saint-Saëns, Sentimental Waltz by P. I. Tchaikovsky, and Viennese March by F. Kreisler. In August 2025, Kimia had already performed Havanaise with a string quartet at the Golden Festival in Herrliberg (Switzerland); however, this concert marked her first performance of the work with orchestra.

Sentimental Waltz was performed in an arrangement for violin — not an original violin work — requiring a particularly refined musical approach and subtle stylistic sensitivity. Kimia’s performance was warm, expressive, and deeply heartfelt. The light and elegant Viennese March by Fritz Kreisler was played with taste, humour, and stylistic precision. Kimia has studied in the violin class of Liana Tretiakova since 2021.

Orchestral Concerts as Part of the Educational Programme

Students of the Advanced and Professional Programmes of the Zakhar Bron School of Music have been performing with the Camerata Tchaikovsky Orchestra in London since 2022 — on average two concerts per year, one per semester. These performances provide students with a rare opportunity for early and comprehensive orchestral experience, which is an essential component of professional musical training.

Acknowledgements

The school would like to express its sincere gratitude to Yury Zhislin — Artistic Director, concertmaster and conductor of the Camerata Tchaikovsky Orchestra, and Professor of Violin and Viola at the Royal College of Music in London — as well as to Natalia Lomeiko, Professor of Violin at the Royal College of Music in London, for their support in organising the concert.

Special thanks are also extended to Liana Tretiakova, leading violin teacher of the Zakhar Bron School of Music, for accompanying the young soloists in London and for their preparation for the performance.
