Benjamin Branson

Benjamin Branson began his cello lessons at the age of five. He is currently studying at the Zakhar Bron School of Music in Zurich at the cello class of Payam Taghadossi.

 
As a soloist Ben won first prizes at the Zurich Youth Music Competition 2023 and 2019, Nouvelles Etoiles International Competition 2023 (Paris), Grand Prize Virtuoso Bonn 2023, Grand Prize Virtuoso Paris 2022, Entrada of the Swiss Youth Music Competition 2022 and received the 2nd prize at the SJMW Finale 2022. As a chamber musician Benjamin is the winner of the Finals of the Swiss Youth Music Competitions 2019 and 2021 and the Nouvelles Etoiles International Competition 2021 (Paris).

 
Benjamin regularly takes part in master classes of such prominent cello teachers as Claire Oppert (Monaco, Paris, Zurich 2019-2022), Rafael Rosenfeld (Salzburg Summer Academy 2023) and Josef Hasten (SIMA Academy 2022 and 2023).

In 2020 Benjamin took part in the Stage4kids Festival in Hamburg in a duo with Nina Gringolts. Ben participated in the Monaco String Academy under the patronage of Maxim Vengerov and appeared as a soloist with chamber orchestras in Switzerland, France and England. Since August 2023 Benjamin is a student of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Gymnasium Rämibühl in Zurich.
